Offspring from Earlier Years…. if nothing else, a testament to the longevity of a small owner operated farm.
Zarcrossed Farm was born in late 1995. I left the field of education having taught English, Biology, Psychology…and any other subject thrust upon me. I loved teaching but grew frustrated with the system. As veterinary medicine was my first love, somehow breeding seemed inevitable….
I stumbled upon my first stallion via an advertisement in The Chronicle of the Horse - I took a rather foolhardy leap and the rest is history. Allerhand stood his first season with me in 1996 and lived out his life as “my boy.”
In 2017, having “retired” from breeding, I once again stumbled on a stallion that caught my eye…and January 1st 2018 DeLite stepped off a trailer and we started at square one.
DeLite (Dino) has proven to be all I hoped - producing VERY consistent type, temperament, conformation, and movement. As with Allerhand, we do it alone as a team - just me and my guy. If Dino was not stellar - we could not successfully exist.
Here at the farm, all foals are raised out in large pastures with occasional stays in the barn. They are raised to be good alone and in company - they are raised to be hardy athletes….and are bred to be great willing partners.

***2025 represents my 31st year owning and standing a warmblood stallion....producing young stock...working a farm for the most part solo and self-sufficient. Over the years, my focus has always been to educate horse owners and breeders, as well as build a respectable, consistent program. My philosophy has always been that my knowledge and experience is something to share freely .... I've done my best...

This year, 2025, is the sunset of the farm. I am a girl who LOVES sunsets and appreciates when the truly beautiful ones linger. My personal sunset will linger a while. Breeding services will continue for on farm breeding only. Mares can stay for their cycles or can come via "Drive Thru" Breeding.
As for producing young stock....in all likelihood only an occasional new life will appear. Marketing young stock is no longer enjoyable - there, I "said" it. I have met a great many wonderful people over the years but truly, it is pretty difficult to give hours to people who seemingly don't appreciate that time and effort . It is exhausting trying to give every inquiry the time & effort & information I would want if I was inquiring - only to often not even get acknowledgement of receipt. Perhaps the internet has made it too easy to be "anonymous"....and inconsiderate..... and poor at communication - though "in person" visits have not shown people to be much "better." I have had the good fortune to deal with a number of very lovely people who were communicative, direct, open but it is sadly the rest - the majority - who suck the joy out of it all.

I certainly encourage anyone who has had interest in what I produce to reach out / keep in touch. My yearling fillies Daylin and Davina are both really exceptional, as is their yearling brother Darius who will be an amazing Jack of All trades. There is a new colt this year who will also be available...one who certainly shows early potential to stay a breeding pony or go on to a performance career.

As the sun sets here at ZFS, I believe a New "Farm" will emerge....something currently in the dream and planning stage. I have so many darn ideas....so many other "passions" that have taken a back seat to horses. Time to venture down the side roads and untraveled paths.

Here's to a great Zarcrossed Farm sunset.....

Here's hoping for a lovely future sunrise where "Yellow Wood Farm" becomes a reality .***
